I had the honor of serving as the moderator for the NYU SHRM panel on “executing a successful career change.” The audience was primarily HR graduate students along with a few alumni and grad students from other programs.
The panelists included:
- My HR Avant-Garde colleague Debbie Wong (next to me in group photo), the only non-career changer among the panelists, brought her expertise as a leader in L&D and HR management to the discussion. Debbie is also a the author of a great travel memoir, The Same Sky: A Traveler’s Quest for Redemption and Peace.
- Tatyana Reshetnikova (middle) discussed moving from Project Management into HR, while putting her project management experience to work in mapping out and executing her career change.
- Jenna Wills (far right), who works for Time, Inc., shared her experience starting over in HR while earning her Master’s at NYU.
- Angela Wright (2nd from right) talked about going from being a successful attorney to a career developing leaders, coaching executive talent and helping organization operate more effectively and efficiently.
I’m looking forward to livestreaming a career advancement and personal branding event on Blab, where we can have guests and take “call-in” questions. If you have ideas for topics you’d like us to cover, please leave a comment below.
